Crystal Simpson, district operations manager at Canteen Vending San Diego; Tony Kevin Posey, operations Manager at Canteen L.C. Vending and Gary Nelson, president of Liberty Bell Vending, will each be awarded full program scholarships and a travel stipend to attend the 2014 NAMA Executive Development Program at Michigan State Univer- sity. Each scholarship is valued at $3,775. Top U.S. Beverage Companies Commit To Lowering Beverage Calories ▶ The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has worked with representatives from American Beverage Association, The Coca-Cola Company, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and PepsiCo to announce a new agreement to decrease beverage calories in the American diet. The companies have set a goal to reduce beverage calo- ries consumed per person nationally by 20 percent by 2025. Each company will retain an independent, third-party evaluator, in conjunction with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, to track progress and interim benchmarks toward their commitments. The beverage industry and the Alliance will work jointly to defne the reporting schedule for all aspects of this agreement. Canteen's Mid South Division Wins 2014 Five Jewel Award ▶ Compass Group honored Canteen's Mid South Divi- sion with a 2014 Five Jewel Award for Best Practices in Diversity and Inclusion. The company notes that the award recognizes associ- ates who practice diversity and inclusion by creating an environment of respect and a connection to each other, clients and the community. The Mid South team received the award for their work with Camp SOAR (Special Olympics Athletic Retreat). During the summer, Canteen's Mid South Division supported Camp SOAR, a weeklong camp for over 300 children and adults with disabilities, by delivering fresh lunches, snacks and drinks for the camp daily. Many associates spent time volunteering throughout the week as well.
